The Nebraska Psychological Association is the only statewide organization dedicated solely to represent the interests of psychologists and psychology across Nebraska.The objectives of NPA include, but are not limited to:

  • protecting the independent practice of professional psychology;
  •  supporting the highest standards of ethical and effective practice; 
  • promotion of training and continuing education in psychology; 
  • educating elected representatives, governmental entities, and the public on the practice and science of psychology; and 
  • encouraging the application of psychological principles and research findings to address behavioral health issues in Nebraska.

The Nebraska Psychological Association, Inc. was organized in 1951 and currently has 30% of the licensed psychologists across Nebraska as members. NPA is an affiliate of the American Psychological Association and holds scientific and professional meetings, conducts continuing education workshops, publishes an online newsletter and advocates on behalf of psychology in the Nebraska Legislature. NPA has two main divisions: Professional Affairs and Academic Affairs. The association's central office is located in Lincoln, Nebraska and is managed by the Executive Director of the association.
