The committee promotes the dissemination and application of the psychological research findings of Nebraska-based faculty and graduate students.
CE Committee
The Continuing Education Committee is responsible for planning, organizing, and coordinating educational programs of interest to psychologists and other behavioral health providers. The CE Committee selects topics, presenters, presentation materials and venues for NPA CE events, and ensures that NPA events, procedures and promotional materials are in compliance with APA Approved Provider Status criteria and NE State Regulations.
Communications & Media Committee
The Communications and Media Committee works closely with all other committees in coordinating, organizing and disseminating communication with Board of Directors, NPA members, nonmember psychologists and other mental/behavioral health providers, as well association communication with other organizations and the public. The Committee is responsible for NPA social media accounts and posts.
This committee works closely with the Board of Directors in distributing and posting any NPA statements, public comments, etc.; and monitors NPA member listserv posts and discussions for potential noncompliance with established Listserv Management Rules and Courtesy Guidelines.
The committee also oversees other projects relating to NPA’s “brand” such as the logo, SWAG, tag lines, promotional pieces, etc.
DEI Committee
The Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee (DEI) works to integrate cultural sensitivity and a commitment to diversity throughout the organizational and membership structures of the association, as well as the broader community of psychology in Nebraska. Within the association, the term “diversity” incorporates, but is not limited to, racial, ethnic, culture, national origin, sexual orientation, spirituality, disability, geography, socio-econmic, age, and/or gender differences. The Committee's efforts will be organization focused, promoting diversity within our SPTA as well as member and community focused. The DEI Committee currently meets via Zoom the third Friday of the month.
ECP Committee
The Early Career Psychologist Committee works to connect and serve as a liaison for early career psychologists in Nebraska, engaging in social and educational events. The ECP Committee plans events to gather and network, and meets via Zoom during months when no ECP events are planned. An ECP Member Listserv has been created for use by the ECP Committee in communicating with NPA ECP members.
Ethics Committee
The Ethics Committee consists of six members elected for three-year terms by NPA voting members during the annual fall elections.
The Ethics Committee researches and provides ethical guidance to the Board as needed or requested, and provides confidential consultations to current NPA members. NPA members can reach out for consultation through the Executive Director or by contacting any of the Committee members directly. These consultations are typically conducted informally and no official records are kept. Consultations can occur via virtual meetings, email, or by telephone. During these consultations, psychologists are encouraged to utilize discretion and to keep patient (or clinician) information as anonymous as possible. In cases where resolutions cannot be met with a single Committee Member, a request may be made to present the scenario to the entire Committee for additional input.
In addition, the Ethics Committee reviews requests for research distribution to NPA members and makes recommendations to the Board of Directors for approval or disapproval.
Membership Committee
The Membership/Nomination/Election Committee is responsible for conducting elections and voting on Bylaws amendments. The committee oversees membership and develops strategies and campaigns for membership retention; increasing membership; highlighting and developing membership benefits; connecting members; and determining member interests; through a variety of means including events (Meet & Greet events, Listening Sessions, etc.), member communications and surveys.
