Ask your representative to vote "No" on the "American Health Care Act" House Republicans are making another attempt to pass the “American Health Care Act,” legislation to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act. Negotiations have been ongoing since this bill was pulled from the house floor in March and a vote could come as early as this weekend.
The APA Practice Organization opposes the American Health Care Act because it would cut nearly a trillion dollars from the Medicaid program and eliminate its coverage for a projected 14 million Americans, remove coverage from another 10 million Americans with private health insurance coverage, and eliminate the requirement that health plans cover mental health, substance use, and behavioral services.
Links to our statements can be found here, and our fact sheets on this issue here.
Please follow the link, here, to contact your Representative and ask her or him to Vote “NO” on the American Health Care Act. Any legislation to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act must increase, not decrease, Americans’ coverage for mental health, substance use, and behavioral health services.
Thank you for your help, and please keep the calls and letters coming!

Contact Appropriations Committee Members Today! Wednesday evening the Legislature advanced the mainline budget bill, LB 327, to second round debate after adopting the Appropriations Committee amendment. After the state forecasting board met yesterday, there remains a significant projected budget deficit of $55M. The Appropriations Committee will meet on Tuesday to discuss additional cuts and/or revenue generating options. One of the items being considered to fill the budget deficit after forecasting board projections is putting back into the budget 3% provider rate cuts, originally proposed by the Governor. If this cut would be implemented, it would affect services paid through Medicaid. We strongly ask you to email members of the Appropriations Committee (listed below), encouraging them to not implement the 3 percent provider rate cut dramatically impacting low income Nebraska families.
